German Press: The President of Our Time.

Tageszeitung – the German newspaper devotes one of its articles to anniversary of Barack Obama as president of the U.S. Obama has distanced himself from his predecessor George Bush and completely changed a foreign policy of the United States and got lots of support from Americans and Europeans.

But his first year in office was a disaster for the personal popularity of Obama. Paradoxically but it happened because of the discharge of his election promises. We are talking of course about health reform and change in U.S. environmental policy.

In addition Obama is trying to overcome the polarization between Republicans and Democrats that makes him the president of the "center", and Public Policy Center in the United States is too weak.

Obama has major problems and in the international arena as well. U.S. troops still in Iraq and involved in operations in Afghanistan. However, as Klaus Leggewie remarked, America is no longer strong enough to impose it's world order.

For transformation, proclaimed by Obama which is comparable in its depth with the industrial revolution, America has to pay. And the change should be done not by just Obama but by the whole World.
