Clinton steps up pressure. How can Iran withhold status quo?

Hillary ClintonSecretary of State Hillary Clinton hardened attacks on Teheran; Russia together with the USA and France stumbled at Iran’s enriching uranium for peaceful purposes. The latest claims made by Netanyahu and Ahmadinezhad are being discussed and analyzed in MSM. What way Iran is going to resist the pressing of the world community?

According to The New York Times the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (at the end of her three days tour around the Middle East) said in Jeddah that Teheran’s having nuclear weapon can develop extremely perilous problems. She also gave a list of Iran’s actions that, according to her own story, go against the assurance of the peaceful purposes of the program. When being in Qatar Clinton appealed to Iranian religious and political leaders to turn against the body of Islamic revolution guards. It is also said there that “Up to now the US high-ranking officials had never been on such an extreme verge of supporting the political revolt in Iran”.

The president Ahmadinejad said at the press conference on Tuesday that Iran is ready to suspend the enrichment if the country will be able to exchange its LEU reservoirs for prefabricated foreign-made fuel assemblies. It is noted as well that he said that “the exchange had to be simultaneous and the USA and its allies had already refused that clause”.

The Wall Street Journal says that the accusations made by the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton this week that Iran is becoming a garrison state headed by members of Islamic revolution guards are the social outputs confidently made by American bureaucrats and the state councilors. By avowing these outputs the administration plans to set the world’s opinion against this elite group.

A state department representative Gordon Daguid continued making accusations on Tuesday. He said that Islamic revolution guards controlled nine of 22 cabinet ministers and that was “the unexampled level from the date of the Islamic state foundation” in 1979.

On Tuesday Iran’s authorities criticized the US remarks and promised to pursue efforts on uranium enrichment. The foreign minister Manuchehr Mottakhi spoke out directly to Hillary Clinton claiming that the USA behaves like a warlord in the Middle East. He also reminded of civilian victims in Iraq and Afghanistan. “We recommend Clinton and other American politicians to remove the scales from their ices and to see the real situation in the region” – Mottakhi according to Iranian MSM. Later in the day Ahmadinejad announced that western powers will regret of sanctions against his country.

The German newspaper Die Tageszeitung points out that the goal of Clinton’s Middle East tour is not only to convince countries in the region to make a stand against Iran’s nuclear program but to win over China in order to achieve its agreement on sanctions stiffening in UNSF.

The article says that Beijing followed its own line so far. Every day China buys in Iran 400 thousands barrels of oil. Clinton wants Saudi Arabia to be the oilman instead of Teheran. That will simplify getting China’s agreement on stiffening sanctions against Teheran.

Israel is not going to make war against any regional forces in the Middle East, prime-minister Netanyahu claimed during his talks with the prime-minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, The Haaretz reports. Journalists mark that it was an answer to Ahmadinejd’s claims that in spring or in summer this year Israel will lay on military strokes on Iran. They maintain as well that Putin promised that “Russia would hold back from disposal any kind of weapon that could disturb the strategic balance in the region to Syria and Iran”.

The leader of “Hezbollah” Nasralla claimed yesterday that if Israel attacked Beirut, “Hezbollah” would attack Tel-Aviv immediately.

The sources in the Israel’s Ministry of Defense commented out that according to Nasralla’s and Ahmadinezhad’s claims Iran wants to aggravate tension near Israel’s northern boarders in order to bind the Western press over the range of international sanctions and to pass off its nuclear program.

The AP agency material published in The Washington Times, puts wise about the joint statement made on Tuesday by Russia, the USA and France: they appealed for Iran to cease uranium enrichment to the level of 20%. They have noted as well that this project is strengthening distrusts that Teheran is reaching after creation of nuclear weapon. This claim is represented as a close letter dated February 12. The addressee is the IAEA’s head Yukia Amano.

For his part Ahmadinezhad said at a press-conference on Tuesday that the modern centrifuges with 5 times more power efficiency than the ones were used in Nathanza would be put in operation. He said about the new UN sanctions: “They know that the UN resolutions are not worth a continental and mean nothing”.

What way Iran can resist the USA? – Syrel Marten, the observer of Le Point, wonders. On the occasion of the Islam republic’s 31 years anniversary Ahmadinezhad announced that the country was starting uranium enrichment to the level of 20%. The western world is an ass for pains once again, the journalist writes. He continues, quoting the expert evidence, that the threat of imposing new sanctions is the only thing.

Deny Boshar, the special advisor on the Middle East from the French institute of foreign affairs is convinced that the “authorities in Teheran have gone into military defense”. He also warns about underestimating of Ahmadinezhad’s popular support. He thinks that all in all the train is not trying to put down the regime and the national pride of Iran is one of the reasons of the authority’s strength.

The USA has ended up in the very center of those diplomatic huddles. Boshar is confirmed that China could block the resolution in the Security Council partly because of the diplomatic tension that has set in between China and the USA during the last months. Obama’s meeting with Dalai-Lama on February 18 would hardly improve the situation. It is the same with Syria. Damask is a strategic partner and the key to the Arab world for Teheran. In the meantime Syria is a Washington’s arch-enemy and one of the countries that ignore the sanctions against Teheran. Therefore, Iran can not become friends with the USA because of Damask. Status quo is the only way out of that diplomatic puzzle; Syrel Marten resumes.

One more analytical article is published at the Web site of Corriere della Sera. Mahmud Ahmadinezhad made a statement that Israel will launch a war in spring. But he did not specify against what country or movement. If Israelis go there “countries of the region will clench the matter once and for all”, he added. Besides, Ahmadinezhad warned the international community of possible consequences in case the economic sanctions against his country are introduced.

The edit continues that Russia meanwhile has agreed with the West that an iron fist must be shown to Teheran. They have confirmed in Kremlin “that no one can shut out the possibility of using sanctions” in case Teheran fails to execute entered obligations on the nuclear program. China’s position (one more permanent UNSF member), is not yet clear.
